The morning without calls. The answers are already there.

Without Drivable, dispatch starts the morning on the phone: where is everyone, has the check been done, when will they reach the dock. With Drivable, it is all in the overview before anyone asks.

Every driver writes in their own language, the office reads German. The dispatcher's reply reaches each driver in their language again.

German stays the binding version, and the original is one tap away. Protected terms such as place and customer names are never translated: Rampe 5 stays Rampe 5 in every language.

One day, 05:40 to 18:00.

Nobody has to call.

A sample day: one truck with a tablet, a driver from Romania, a dispatcher on the road and an office that sees everything in its own language.

Truck tablet and office web app

The tablet stays in the truck.

Whoever drives is on the weekly sheet.

Each driver signs in with their PIN and sees the tablet in their own language. The office sees at once who sits in which truck with which trailer.

Departure check.

Every defect becomes a damage report.

13 areas, two big buttons each, in the driver's language. Location and signature turn the check into a record, and dispatch sees it the moment it is sent.

A dead zone on the route.

The report waits on the device.

The app stores every departure check and damage report on the device first, then sends it. Without signal it stays there, with time and photos, and goes out the next time the app is opened with signal. The location of the departure check comes from GPS, which needs no mobile network.

Damage from the road

By 09:24 the workshop knows.

The driver reports in his own language, with photos. The office reads it in English, forwards the case to the workshop in one click, and the driver sees every status change in his app.

Chat with the fleet

Everyone reads in their own language.

The office writes German, drivers read Romanian, Polish or Bulgarian. The German text stays binding, and you can see who has read it.

  1. On the left: every driver chat, unread ones with a count.
  2. S. Becker writes an announcement to all 16 drivers and confirms it with a second click.
  3. Each phone shows it in the driver's language, with the binding German underneath.
  4. In the office, the tick turns into “Read”, with the time.
  5. K. Nowak replies in Polish.
  6. The office reads the reply in German and can open the original.

Office web app

The fleet live on the map.

Dispatch sees it before anyone calls.

Position, speed and remaining driving time come from the tachograph via MAN's RIO telematics, about once a minute. Drivable detects stops and refuelling on its own.

  1. The dispatcher looks up Truck 12: ignition on, 84 km/h, 3:34 h until the break.
  2. Truck 12 carries on along the A2; speed and remaining times count along.
  3. It stops at a fuel station. After 23 minutes the refuel appears under Stops.
  4. Driving times live: K. Nowak drops below 45 minutes, then below 15.
  5. Critical 1: Truck 5 turns red. S. Becker sees it before anyone calls.

Handbook with read proof

Confirmed means read.

You publish a new version and every driver reads the changes in their own language. They can only confirm at the end of the chapter and after the minimum reading time.

  1. The office compares version 4 with version 3: one section changed, one new.
  2. Version 4 goes live. On M. Popescu's phone the handbook tile turns red.
  3. He opens the changed chapter, in Romanian.
  4. He reads to the end while the reading time runs.
  5. After 20 seconds the button unlocks. He confirms.
  6. The office sees his proof with reading time. Two drivers are still open.

How does the office know who is driving?

From traces the driver leaves anyway.

There is no time clock. Drivable reads three signals: the PIN on the truck tablet, the status in the app and the driver card in the truck. Anyone checked in today without a departure check goes to the top of the office view.

What's inside.

Built for the daily work of a haulage company.

Twelve building blocks from the real apps. Each one shows you in a few seconds what it takes off your plate.

Trucks from many countries queue bumper to bumper on a bend of the Brenner motorway.

One haulier, one system.

Your data shares no table.

Every haulier gets its own instance: its own database, its own web app, servers in the EU. The apps are the same for everyone. The company code tells them where your system is; after that everyone signs in with their own account.

Who is behind it

Portrait of Jonas Höttler

I am Jonas Höttler, managing director of Balane GmbH in Munich. Drivable was not designed at a desk but together with a haulage company: on their trucks, with their drivers and their dispatch. It runs there every day. Every feature on this page exists because it was needed in the cab or in the office: the pre-trip check at 05:40, the damage report in Romanian, the question of where truck 12 is right now. Drivable belongs to Usable, the operations software by Balane: a separate database per customer, cancellable monthly, properly engineered rather than generated. If you want to know whether Drivable fits your company, write to me.

Common questions

Which languages does Drivable speak? The driver app comes in 21 languages, including Polish, Romanian, Bulgarian, Ukrainian, Russian, Turkish and Arabic, the web app in 23. Messages, damage reports, checklists and the handbook are translated automatically.

Is there a separate app for dispatch? Dispatch works in the web app, at the desk or on the phone, with a push for every report. Nobody has to install anything for it.

Do we need new devices? Usually not. The driver app runs on iOS and Android, on phones and tablets, the web app in any current browser. Mounted tablets can run in kiosk mode through your device management (Android).

How does the driver app get onto the devices? Through your device management: Managed Google Play on Android, Apple Business Manager on iPhone and iPad. During setup we work out what suits your devices.

What happens without signal? Pre-trip checks and damage reports are stored on the device and sent as soon as there is signal again. The driver sees what has not been sent yet.

We don't run MAN trucks. Everything except the live map, stops and live driving times works without telematics, and you can still analyse driver card files. We connect other makes on request.

How long does setup take? A few days. We import vehicles, drivers and deadlines from your existing list and train your office.

What does Drivable cost? It is billed per truck per month, with no seats and no tiers, cancellable monthly, plus a one-off setup. We work out the price for your fleet in the call.

What if a driver leaves? Their personal data can be anonymised. Damage reports, deadlines and confirmations stay for your records.
